A Sprinkle of Christmas magic

Cadbury’s touring Postal Service has become a Christmas experiential staple, with event awareness growing year on year.

In 2020 we were challenged with the covid-conundrum of taking a national campaign online. We created an immersive event, a festive purple paradise in London's Rich Mix where our cheery performers would greet drop-in visitors in person or via video link and help them post free chocolate secretly to a loved one.

The Brief

After the success of 2020’s virtual Cadbury Secret Santa, VCCP tasked Bearded Kitten with bringing the in-person Postal Service back to life for its fourth year. Our goal was to inspire families across the UK to embrace their generous instinct by sending a bar of chocolate to a loved one, all while ensuring a COVID-safe and cost-effective experience.

Creative Concept

Our approach was nostalgic charm meets seamless execution. We revived the 2019 Postal Service, blending its beloved festive magic with updated sustainability initiatives, cost-saving measures, and enhanced COVID protocols. From the instantly recognisable Cadbury purple to the cheery Postal Workers, every detail was intentionally designed to spark joy and create moments of heartfelt giving.

The Delivery

Our delivery wasn’t just ‘posting chocolate’. We crafted a feel-good experience from start to finish. The Cadbury Postal Service hit the road, making stops in five key cities, including a brand-new location at Manchester Etihad Stadium. Sustainability was a core focus, with Bearded Kitten refurbishing existing props and minimising waste. COVID precautions were seamlessly woven into the experience – perspex screens, sanitiser stations, and enhanced cleaning protocols ensured safety without dulling the festive spirit.

Even when challenges arose – from storm-induced cancellations to pandemic disruptions – the Bearded Kitten event team worked swiftly to reschedule and keep the magic alive. A donation of 800 chocolate bars to Hackney Foodbank ensured the spirit of giving extended beyond the event itself.

The Impact

The Cadbury Secret Santa Postal Service proved once again why it’s a Christmas favourite. Thousands of chocolate bars were sent in secret, spreading warmth to loved ones across the country. The event’s reach extended beyond in-person interactions, with social media buzzing about the experience.
As Bearded Kitten wrapped up another successful year, one thing was clear – the spirit of Secret Santa is alive and well, and Cadbury’s Postal Service is here to stay.
